MANILA, Philippines - Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla, brother of Sen. Bong Revilla, has lined up month-long activities to mark Bacoor Festival.

The celebration starts today, with 10 marching bands heralding a dance parade. A balloon ceremony, the search for Miss Bacoor, the launch of a miniature New Bacoor Municipal Hall and the Palit Ilaw Project will be held.

The focal point of the festivities, Strike says, is the family. In fact, Sept. 6 is dubbed “Family Fun Day.” On the to-do list are the Agawan ng Biik and a car show/motor show called the 1st Strike Rescue Open Motor Show `09.

The return to good old family values is the reason behind the festival theme Isang pamilya... Isang bayan... Isang Pasasalamat.

Strike himself sets the example where valuing one’s family is concerned. “I consult Kuya Bong about my work in Bacoor. I respect him a lot,” says Strike.

Meanwhile, his dad former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr. has donated half a hectare of land on which a public hospital will rise.

Strike is also eyeing a big piece of property in the same area where he can put up a small resort for those who want to go wakeboarding.

Senior citizens and people with disabilities in Bacoor enjoy free movies in all SM cinemas in Molino every Monday and Tuesday. A Botika de Barangay sells cheap medicine. A halfway house gives temporary shelter to needy women and children.

“Every sector is represented: Special children, the disabled, senior citizens, and even members of the third sex,” relates Strike.
