Can Eula say no to her 'gift'?

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Eula Valdez (photo) stars in Manghuhula as an outcast and failed manghuhula who returns home to a quaint and mysterious town known for its fortunetellers to save her daughter (Glaiza de Castro) from a fate she herself escaped — the town’s next most sought after manghuhula, a fate handed down from mother to daughter. The only way to save her daughter is to embrace her supernatural gift which she has vowed to give up.

Manghuhula, produced by AP 24.07 Productions, is an indie film screened at the 2008 Cinemanila International Film Festival.

Produced partly through a grant given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the movie marries artistic integrity and mass commercial appeal. Suspense/horror movie fans and even critics would enjoy it.

Manghuhula, opening Sept. 9 in theaters, also stars Chanda Romero, Emilio Garcia, Pinky Amador, Bella Flores with special participation of Angel Aquino, Epy Quizon, Mark Gil, Meryll Soriano, John Lapus, Mel Martinez, Tuesday Vargas, Candy Pangilinan and Harlene Bautista. It is directed by Paolo Herras.
