In the ’50s, the Philippines used to co-produce movies with other Asian countries. One of these joint ventures is Sanda Wong (1955) produced by Filipino producer Manuel Vistan Jr., and his Hong Kong (Chinese) counterpart Ho Chapman.
Sanda Wong was, as the blurb says, ‘Filmed in romantic, scenic, mysterious Hong Kong!’ It drumbeats, ‘Here’s a thundering spectacle.‘
The beautiful Chinese actress Lola Young co-stars with Jose Padilla, Lilia Dizon and Danilo Montes.
Sampaguita Pictures co-produced Hong Kong Holiday and Pagoda with HK’s Golden Harvest and LVN co-produced Hawayana with Indonesia’s P.T. Persari Films in the ’50s. — RKC
