MANILA, Philippines - Alumni of the UP Madrigal singers under the baton of Dr. Renato Trota Jose is holding a concert entitled Too Madz about Babes on tonight at 7 at the Philamlife Auditorium. The repertoire includes Filipino and European classics and contemporary songs especially arranged for choirs, and original compositions.
A project of the UP College of Medicine class of 1984, proceeds of this concert will go to the NICU of the PGH and the construction of an office for the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine of the UP College of Medicine.
The PGH NICU caters to critically ill newborns, most of which are premature. The cost of care critically ill babies is quite prohibitive. More than 80 percent of patients in the NICU are charity cases, with the hospital bearing most of the burden of providing for the medical and even the social needs of sick infants. There is a continuous need to improve the quality of health care at the NICU and every effort must be undertaken to ensure that our sick babies receive the best and humane care possible.
The NICU is headed by Dr. Jacinto V. Mantaring III. He and Dr. Renato Trota Jose are members of the UP College of Medicine Class of 1984.
