MANILA, Philippines - Congratulations to writer-director-producer Carlo J. Caparas (photo) who has just been named National Artist for Visual Arts.
The announcement was made by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the airport yesterday before she left for the US. Carlo has several ‘King’ titles to his name: Komiks King, Box-Office King and TV Ratings King, among them.
He has made into films dozens of his komiks serials, most of which are now being remade in television, such as Bakekang, Ang Panday, Joaquin Bordado, Totoy Bato and Pieta.
