Rachel is single again

Just heard that Rachel Alejandro has broken up with her non-showbiz boyfriend. Her manager, Girlie Rodis, is mum on the matter. She won’t even as much as give a “hint” if the homecoming of Rachel’s ex-boyfriend Lee Robin Salazar from the States after a five-year absence from showbiz has anything to do with Rachel’s (sudden?) decision.

The good news is that Rachel has made peace with Jessa Zaragoza, wife of Rachel’s ex-boyfriend Dingdong Avanzado. Jessa made an unfavorable remark about Rachel who kept quiet even if Girlie noisily took the cudgels for her.

Rachel and Jessa, together with Geneva Cruz and Roselle Nava, are starring in Ladies of the ’90s, a  forthcoming concert produced by Viva Events & Concerts, Inc. During the photo shoot, Jessa and Rachel happily bonded as if nothing happened. Because they have matured, the four girls look even more gorgeous, confident and oozing with sex appeal.

Asked what keeps her fit, Rachel said that she practises what she preaches (or “sells”), meaning the daily diet of the Sexy Chef she and her sister Barni own and manage.

Alfred will run

There’s no stopping Alfred Vargas from running for councilor of Quezon City in 2010.

“I’m ready,” said Alfred.

While the campaign is months away, Alfred is focused on his career, especially on his latest indie starrer, Colorum, which is competing in Cinemalaya which is opening today (until July 26).

In Colorum, written and directed by Jon Steffan Ballesteros, Alfred plays a promising cop working part-time as a driver of one of the many “undocumented” and “illegal” FX taxis in Metro Manila. One night, he runs over a pedestrian. He flees and embarks on a road trip across the Visayas, taking with him a hostage — the 70-year-old ex-convict (played by Lou Veloso) who witnessed the incident.

But what was expected to be an escape turns out to be a domino of more crimes, making it the ride of the driver’s life, even if they meet interesting people along the way. The driver and his hostage stand on quicksand. They must make a decision, pronto!

Dyan’s health secret

Like any self-respecting product endorser, Dyan Castillejo tried Skywheat Wheatgrass Plus before she agreed to endorse it.

Why did they part?

Funfare Update was informed at press time yesterday that Wyngard Tracy and Maricel Soriano (in file photo) have parted ways as manager and talent after many fruitful and happy years. Asked what caused the break-up, the Funfare Update DPA said, ‘It’s a long story.’ Suffice it to say that the parting was amicable, meaning Wyngard and Maricel remain friends. Maricel has enlisted Malou Choa-Fagar as her new manager while Wyngard has taken in Wendell Ramos as his new talent. Wendell used to be managed by the late Douglas Quijano.
