K Brosas on her 'boob job'

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -

Curtain-raisers:

• Residents of a southern city are turned off by a young TV actress’ blatant PDA (Public Display of Affection). Since she and her leading man arrived in the city for a shooting, she has been clinging on to his arm as if somebody would grab the guy away from her any moment. The guy is not really her boyfriend (it’s somebody else, non-showbiz) but the two of them are under strict instruction to appear lovey-dovey in public for the sake of ratings, you know. Is she overdoing her PDA because she knows that her leading man’s real girlfriend is from that city? In fact, the girlfriend is scheduled to be there in time for the province’s celebration of an important event next week.

• Text message from avid Michael Jackson fan Ibarra Mateo after he stayed up late glued to his TV watching the MJ memorial service at Staples Center in L.A.: Sad, ‘no? When he was alive, people denounced, derided and thrashed him. Now that he is no longer able to hear the words of consolation comes the avalanche of good words. (Buti pa si Tita Cory Aquino, she is able to appreciate the admiration for her while she is alive.) The most poignant part of the memorial for me was at the end while the choir was singing and the stage was empty except for the lone microphone flooded by a spotlight. A very poetic way of saying that no entertainer can take his place. Indeed, as Rev. Al Sharpton told MJ’s children, “Your daddy wasn’t strange; what he had to deal with was strange.”

But for me, the most touching part was when MJ’s 12-year-old daughter Paris spoke, choked with emotion and in tears, “Since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine. And I just want to say, I love you so much.” That was heart-breaking; that said it all.

• Funfare’s L.A.-based DPA filed this brief report: “The actress-singer has moved out of the house of her former leading man for whom she very kindly acted as care-giver. But the questions persist: Bakit masama daw ang loob ng actor? What did she do to him? Sabi nga nila, so what else is new?” And then the DPA quoted a line from a Peter, Paul & Mary song, When will she ever learn? When will she ever learn.

The issue of “boob job” (breast augmentation, breast implants, etc.) is very much in the news these days, so it was the first thing Funfare asked K Brosas when she sat down for a one-on-one in connection with her 34th birthday concert titled Ohhh K! at Zirkoh Greenhills on July 18 (show starts at 9 p.m.)

Did she or didn’t she? Have one, that is.

Without batting an eyelash, the Waray beauty admitted, “Yes, five years ago. So far, so good. No leak, no nothing.”

The “job” was done by Dr. Pie and Manny Calayan and, K Brosas added, “it gave me more self-confidence at, aminin na natin, lalong gumanda ang katawan ko. Besides that, nothing else has been changed. Every other part of my body is original.”

In the latest issue of FHM (with a totally nude Aubrey Miles on the cover and in the inside spreads), K Brosas is featured in a three-page sexy pictorial; it’s her first time to do it. She’s beautifully — and “artistically” — photographed by Roy Macam. K Brosas is so proud of it that she even lent Funfare a copy of FHM from which the two photos on this page are reprinted.

Asked by FHM writer Jet Tanyag what part of her body does she consider the sexiest, K Brosas said, “Marami, eh, ha ha! Siguro sa experience, legs, kasi medyo makapal ang legs ko. Isang kilometro. Long-legged legs.”

And why did she have to do it only now?

“Ngayon lang ninyo ako niyaya eh, ha ha! Matagal na nga akong pumoporma sa inyo. Pero tingnan mo nga naman, at 34, maganda pa rin ako! Ha ha!”

What would her daughter say?

“...I’m sure sasabihin niyang ‘hot mama’...”

At her age, what’s the naughtiest thing has she done?

“Sex na ba ang pinag-uusapan natin? Ha, ha ha! Yung show ko kasi sexy pero nakakatawa rin. Naughty, pero hindi naman offensive. So kung sasagutin ko yung tanong ninyo lagi akong gumagawa ng naughty.”

Presented by La Carmela de Boracay and Café La Carmela (with Live Artists Production as major sponsor), Ohhh K! will have K Brosas’ good friend Katrina Halili and Lloyd Zaragoza (Jessa’s brother) as guest performers.

Incidentally, K Brosas is in the cast of Lovers in Paris, the forthcoming ABS-CBN soap starring Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion.

Asked by Funfare if she’s ready to do a more daring pictorial spread, K Brosas said, “Kung pang-cover. Basta huwag bastos, huwag nakahiga at huwag nakabuka ang legs.”

(Note: Tickets to K Brosas’ show are priced P500 each. Call Joel Valdivia at 0915-7844558 or Liza Faraon of Backroom at 435-1098.)

Boots Babushka shines in drag

Here’s a brief report from Funfare’s New York-based “beauty expert” Felix Manuel:

Guess who went drag at the New York gat parade last June 28 — yes, NYC’s best Pinoy “beauty architect” Boots Babushka. More than 50,000 joined the march and over a million spectators lined the parade route.

Boots represented the Philippines. He was joined by several other drag queens and a socio-civic group called “Barang-gay.”

The March began as an annual civil-rights demonstration at the beginning of the year after the Stonewall Riots in 1970. Over the years its purpose has been expanded to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those who have succumbed to the illness, violence and neglect. It has also evolved into a celebration of our lives and our community.

Heritage of Pride, is the fully-volunteer-managed, non-partisan, tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation is the organizer of the event, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual &Transgender Pride events in New York City to commemorate the Stonewall Riots. These events are organized on behalf of all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and groups, and all others who support the struggle for the liberation of these communities. In the Spirit of Stonewall, Heritage of Pride welcomes participation of all, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identification, HIV status, national origin, physical or mental developmental ability, race, religion or sexual orientation.
