The Rhea Santos Special
MANILA, Philippines – Tonight at 9:10 in DOQmentaries, join Rhea Santos as she tries to find the perfect pair of shoes, master the right dance moves and discover the ultimate, traditional soul food.
The Rhea Santos Special on DOQmentaries features three episodes: If the Shoe Fits, Dance with Me and No Taste Like Home.
If the Shoe Fits takes viewers to Rhea’s journey of seduction, fantasy, and reality to understand a woman’s relentless love affair with shoes. Sapato Manila, makers of Philippine-made shoes, the couture footwear of Cesar Gaupo, Marikina, and former “king of shoes” and current country manager of Bvlgari, Mario Katigbak are the subjects of the docu.
Dance with Me, on the other hand, has Rhea exploring the world of dancing first hand. She kicks off the documentary by fulfilling one of her New Year’s resolutions — learning the flamenco. She then meets a 15-year-old girl whose impoverished background did not stop her from realizing her dream of becoming a ballerina. Rhea also discovers an organization that teaches pole dancing as a means to rebuild self-confidence, the weight-loss secrets in belly dancing, and the Pinoy kids who have taken the hip-hop world by storm.
Finally, No Taste Like Home presents a prized family possession — recipes children inherit from their mother, which also help in forming the family’s traditions, values, and history. Rhea visits Pampanga, the country’s culinary capital, and meets Lillian Borromeo, a Kapampangan cook and culinary historian and the Narciso family, owners of the La Moderna Bakery in Guagua, Pampanga. She also meets Mary Rose Bumanglag, executive chef of Dome Café and the private chef of a Manila-based American family related to the late US President John F. Kennedy.
