UST's Tau Mu Sigma Phil bares projects

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Tau Mu Sigma Phil of University of Santos Tomas, Faculty of Medicine & Surgery announces the reinstatement of privileges by the Office of Student Affairs and Community Services. Tau Mu Sigma Phil is the oldest medical fraternity, established in 1946, and has a history of benevolence and service to the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, the university and to the country.

In keeping with their ideals: Academic excellence, service, leadership, and brotherhood, the Tau Mu Sigma Phi pledged ongoing support to numerous projects. Among these are:

• Financial support to the multimillion dollar UST Alumni Center, A Quadricentennial gift for all Thomasians. They have issued to date $50,000 of their $100,000 pledge to the alma mater.

• Establishment of a $25,000 Perpetual Endowment Fund in cooperation with the UST Medical Alumni Association in America Foundation. The interest money annually is disbursed to the projects of the university most especially to the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery.

• Building of homes for the poorest of the poor among our countrymen, such as the one at Towerville, Bulacan, site of the Tau Mu Sigma Phil Village.

• Extension of the Big Brother Program to graduate members for postgraduate observership curricula in America.

Reinstatement of the fraternity to full recognition was announced by Rev. Fr. Rector Magnificus, Fr. Rolando dela Rosa, O.P. and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, Dr. Grace Garayblas-Gonzaga at the recent 8th Tau Mu Sigma Phi, USA, Foundation, Inc. Annual Grand Reunion & Convention.
