Kris' shining moment

MANILA, Philippines - This is my shining moment.

That’s how Kris Bernal sums up all the blessings she has been getting lately. After all, she’s getting good reviews for her performance as Myrna in the just-concluded Sine Novela Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? opposite Aljur Abrenica.

Because of this, Kris will reappear on TV not as the faithful wife Myrna but as the reserved Romina in All My Life which premieres tonight on GMA Telebabad weeknight shows before 24 Oras.

All My Life is a story of hope, love and friendship. It revolves around the secrets behind the friendship of two families, the Estrellas and Romualdezes.

Kris’ Romina Estrella is Jules Romualdez’s (Aljur) childhood friend. They are destined to part, only to meet again someday.

“This is a big opportunity for me and Aljur. Getting the leading roles in Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? is so much more than a blessing. Akala nga namin hanggang duon nalang kami. That‘s why I‘m so thankful our new project will be aired on primetime. And I‘m so happy for the trust given us,” relates Kris.

She confesses to being pressured and nervous, now that they‘re airing on primetime. That‘s why she has doubled her effort in acting. ”I really dedicate so much of my time on improving my acting. I write down notes and rehearse my script repeatedly. Hindi na ako natutulog para lang ma-perfect lahat.”

Kris’ team-up with Aljur drew positive response from the viewers. Their recent appearance in Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin made them the Royal Couple of Daytime Drama Series. That’s why their loveteam has spawned many speculations about the real score between them. “We‘re just special friends and I‘m comfortable with Aljur. Our friendship is truly treasured,” Kris relates.

Whatever she calls it doesn‘t matter as long as she knows she is always there for Aljur and vice-versa. And it’s not only because of their loveteam but something deeper.

When the issue about Aljur‘s ‘sexual harassment’ case broke out, Kris wasn‘t bothered at all because she trusts Aljur.

“Hiningi ko naman ‘yung explanation niya about it. He told me the truth and I believe him. Kilala ko si Aljur, he‘s a sincere person at hindi siya ’yung taong gagawa ng ganun.” Kris even admits she admires Aljur for his courage in facing his problems. “Hindi mo siya makikitang malungkot or affected at all kasi hindi naman talaga totoo,” she adds.

Now, besides portraying lead roles, Kris hopes to get endorsements. Asked about the possibilities of doing mature or sexy roles, Kris replies, “I will cross the bridge when I get there. Gagawin ko ang lahat basta ‘yung makakabuti sa career ko.”
