MANILA, Philippines - No, it’s not Influenza A(H1N1). But Sitti Navarro is hoping that fans and new listeners alike will catch the Bossa Nova bug with her newest album, Contagious, from Warner Music Philippines.
The 16-track album strives to recapture the unexpected freshness of Sitti’s debut album, Café Bossa, which catapulted the now reigning Philippine Queen of Bossa Nova to fame.
“People were really clamoring for me to bring back that sound — the raw, laidback and carefree way of interpreting songs,” says Sitti.
The carrier single, Is This Love, is an original composition penned by the same composers, Andrew Fromm and Keith Follese, who wrote Christian Bautista’s The Way You Look at Me. The single was released in May and has hit the air waves.
Contagious also includes several rearranged pop covers such as Till There Was You as well as Bossa Nova classics such as Dindi and Chega De Saudade.
Sitti shares, “My goal for this album is for the listener to have a positive experience of the Bossa Nova music, drawing from the Café Bossa feel. I hope they enjoy this album as much as they did my first one.”
The record is now available at major record bars and music stores all over the country.
