MANILA, Philippines - Cotabato City celebrates its 50th founding anniversary with a grand fashion show featuring its indigenous weave inaul. The show is on June 19, 7 p.m. at the newly-refurbished Notre Dame University gym in Cotabato City.
Inaul is a traditional handwoven malong fabric with colors and designs that are as varied as the innumerable ways. It is worn and used by Maguindanaoans of Central Mindanao, the biggest tribal group in Mindanao.
Renee Salud presents a modern interpretation of this traditional fabric, with his contemporary, ready-to-wear pieces to showcase the fabric’s versatility.
The show will feature the country’s top models including Miss Philippines Earth 2009 Sandra Seifert; former Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winners Gionna Cabrera and Jennifer Barrientos; Bb. Pilipinas-International 2006 Denille Lou Valmonte; Mutya ng Pilipinas 2007 Ana Marie Morelos; and Bodyshots winner 2008 Jobo Roa.
Chairperson of the Tourism Council of Cotabato City and head of the show’s organizing committee is Bai Sandra Sema.
