Pulp celebrates Fete Dela Musique

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - On June 20, get a chance to see more than a hundred bands, artists and musicians perform in a single day to celebrate this worldwide event, as Zesto Water Plus, San Miguel Beer-Samahang Walang Katulad, Hyundai-Drive Your Way and PULP Magazine present The Fete Dela Musique 2009 at The Metrowalk grounds in Ortigas, Pasig. In line with the annual event, PULP delivers a packed-to-the pages issue filled with music features, articles, columns and album reviews of your favorite local and international artists.

For starters, this month’s cover artist Juan Pablo Dream takes you on a Technicolor soul ride, as it releases its much-anticipated independent debut. Frontman Bing Austria and the rest of the gang offer their views and insights on both the genre and how it has evolved with the modern music trends. PULP staff writer Karen Sy takes down notes and enjoys an exclusive lesson about the past, present and future of the music the band expertly creates. Put your dancing shoes on and get ready to move to the groove.

Meanwhile, PULP Music Editor Jason Caballa gets the skinny on one of the most popular local rock groups Silent Sanctuary, the band that produced monster hits such as Ingat Ka, Ikaw Lamang and Rebound. The band is incidentally ready to do it again with its sophomore release Mistaken For Granted to be released under Universal Records. Still going strong with their success on radio and music channels, the members of Silent Sanctuary reveal their plans and goals with their new full-length, and offer a brief history lesson of where they’ve been and gone through. Fans of Silent Sanctuary will definitely have an amusing time flipping through this one. If uncompromising, brutal and merciless heavy metal is your main fix, then PULP’s exclusive interview with Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe and drummer Chris Adler will get your testosterone levels boiling. Out with its latest (and fortunately, locally released via Roadrunner/Warner Music Philippines) masterpiece Wrath, Lamb of God audibly has pulled out all the stops and topped its previous efforts with a disc so loud it will smash your eardrums twice.

Read the full story on Lamb of God, arguably the forerunners of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, written by editor-in-chief Joey Dizon. Finally, concert-goers and rock n’ roll party animals will feast their eyes on the official PULP Summer Slam 9: Countdown To Extinction coverage included in this month’s issue of PULP, given a glorious 20-page run packed with amusing on and offstage anecdotes, never-been-released photos and an overview of what could be the biggest and loudest concert event of 2009.

Featuring photos of Summer Slam headliners Shadows Fall and foreign support acts like Shepherds The Weak, King Lychee (from Hong Kong), Australia’s Unholy Ground, Malaysia’s Popshuvit and Norway’s Goddamn — alongside more than 30 of the country’s biggest local acts — this is one feature that looks good both in the magazine and on the walls of your room. All that and more, as PULP always promises to deliver, as music fans of all sizes and ages will spend the rainy season rocking out in full-throttle with PULP Magazine: Music/Style… In Your Face! Get a chance to win freebies, souvenirs and the latest info on your favorite musicians, bands, artists and shows this June and July by grabbing the latest copy in all leading magazine shops and book stores for only P120.
