Loving daughter

-

MANILA, Philippines - Playing a hands-on mom to two young daughters and a loving child to a mom diagnosed with dementia is never an easy task. Brooke Shields handles the job with flying colors as reported in the latest issue of People Magazine.

“She’s good,” said the 44-year-old actress of her mom Teri’s condition. “It’s all been a whirlwind; She doesn’t quite understand. But she has a good team (of caregivers) around her, which is good.”

Brooke also added in the interview that it’s “always difficult when you see your parents incapacitated... You fight it at first and then try to realize that the roles have to change.”

She continued, “It’s just never easy, especially when you’re in this ‘sandwich generation’ where we’re taking care of our parents and we’re taking care of our kids, too.”

Last Mother’s Day, Brooke had brunch in New York with her mom, kids and friends. Her daughters gifted her a lavender and a sunflower plant.

“I look at them and think, ‘God, I hope they’re gonna join forces and take care of me when I’m old,’” shared Brooke in the People interview. “You hope that you’ve earned it — that in a way, you’ve earned their respect.”

Frank, Brooke’s father and a former Revlon executive, died of cancer.
