Harlem Globetrotters play hard ball in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The team that has entertained millions around the world for more than 80 years is coming to Manila. The Harlem Globetrotters (photo) will perform at the Araneta Coliseum for three shows: May 24 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and May 25, 7 p.m.

One of the Globetrotters’ top performers, Anthony ‘Buckets’ Blakes recently performed at halftime of the PBA’s All-Star Game at the Araneta Coliseum.

A press conference with Buckets Blakes and event organizers was held before the event at the PBA Press Room of the Araneta Coliseum.

The Harlem Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team that combines athleticism and comedy. The Globetrotters were created in 1926 in Chicago and have since then played more than 22,000 games in 118 countries with having lost only three matches in their entire history.

Apart from the exhibition game, the Globetrotters’ acts feature incredible coordination and skillful handling of one or more basketballs such as passing or juggling balls between players, balancing or spinning balls on their fingertips and making unusual shots.
