MANILA, Philippines - Experiencing midlife crisis can actually mean a dynamic musical rush.
Thanks to eight middle-aged men, the definition of midlife crisis has taken on a new meaning. Their musical repertoire is a mix of light rock music; much like Bread from the ‘60s, The Eagles from the ‘70s and Hall & Oates from the ‘80s.
As eclectic as their music, the men are not all professional musicians. The two lead vocalists are professionals: Adel Samson who plays percussion is an eye surgeon and bassist Nick Guzman is a dentist. Providing vocal support and rhythm guitar to the lead singers are talent manager and TV personality Ronnie Henares, who, together with Duty Free Philippines’ deputy GM Enchong Formoso, formed the band. Rounding up the group are lead guitarist, harmonica player and vocalist Koko Marbella; keyboardist, saxophonist, vocalist and vocal director Roy del Valle; drummer Leo Barritte; and lead guitarist, vocalist and musical director Kettle Mata.
Catch them Monday nights at Strumm’s in Jupiter Street and Friday nights at Conway’s in Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
