Himig ng Bayan elimination extended

MANILA, Philippines - In response to popular demand from interested parties to give them more time to join the Himig ng Bayan contest recital, the organizers of the music festival set in Dumaguete City have extended the web-based eliminations of the competition to June 12.

Val Victa, head of the organizing committee, made the announcement recently at the same time saying the finalists will be chosen and made known on that same day.

The festival proper will also be moved back to July, still in Dumaguete City.

Himig ng Bayan celebrates new, established Filipino talent at its best. The recital aims to find and develop the country’s most promising amateur musicians.

More than the concerts for top bands (The Dawn and Bamboo will be the confirmed performers in the event), Himig ng Bayan is about creating a more musician-friendly environment and giving solo performers the opportunity to make a name for themselves in a band-driven industry.
