A boy for Mylene; a girl for Vina

Mylene Dizon and Vina Morales are proud mothers to their newborn babies. Mylene gave birth to her second son Lucas Miguel in Chicago last April 22. The baby weighs 6.11 pounds and measures 19 inches long. Mylene and Paolo Paraiso named the baby Lucas Miguel. Lucas means light. Paolo, who was in Boracay when Mylene gave birth was ecstatic when he received the good news. Would Lucas be the missing key in order for Mylene and Paolo to get back together? Paolo said they still have to discuss the issue.

Meanwhile, it’s a healthy girl for Vina who gave birth the normal way to Ceana at Cardinal Santos Medical Center last April 25. Ceana weighs 6.9 pounds. The Buzz has all the exclusive interviews and footage of the memorable occasion. Vina was in labor for almost 20 hours. For a first-time mom like Vina, the whole process was very painful but upon hearing her daughter’s cry, Vina shed tears of joy.

“I was looking at Ceana while they were cleaning her. I was very happy. Then they gave her to me,” Vina recalls.

Her partner was very supportive and never left her side the whole time she was in labor and during her safe delivery. Vina’s message for her baby: “You are my life, Ceana. God is gracious. God gave you to me. Thank you. I love you. We love you!”

Karylle’s new project

Karylle is one of the stars of ABS-CBN’s Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo‘s Nasaan Ka Maruja? which will start airing tomorrow, May 2. She plays Helen, half-sister of Kristine Hermosa’s character. The TV remake also stars Derek Ramsay, John Estrada, Enchong Dee and Ms. Gloria Romero. Karylle is thankful she is part of the powerhouse cast.

“When I first saw Kristine, I was star-struck. She’s very beautiful! I haven’t really worked with her before. We warmed up to each other later on. The set of Maruja is very magaan. There are a lot of bonding moments. Aside from everyone being supportive and friendly, it’s just nice to be in an environment where you feel like you know we’re really striving for excellence,” Karylle enthused.

Aside from their roles, Tin-Tin and Karylle have a common factor: Jericho Rosales. Karylle said Echo is not courting her. (Not yet or not for us to know yet!)

She has finally moved on and in spite of being loveless (?) right now, she is happy with her life. She is blessed with a successful career that keeps her busy these days.

The stars of Only You

The newest ABS-CBN primetime offering Only You starring Angel Locsin, Sam Milby and Diether Ocampo has already started airing. The series is the Pinoy adaptation of the hit Koreanovela aired a few years ago on the Kapamilya network. Angel plays Jillian, who relentlessly pursues her dream to become a chef. Sam is TJ, the egotistical businessman who searches for his long-lost mother. Diet plays Jonathan, Jillian’s best friend. Some scenes in the series were shot in Korea.

Its lead stars share many things in common. Angel, Sam and Diet are active in their respective advocacies. Sam is the Ambassador of World Vision which helps send poor kids to school. Diet has his K.I.D.S. Foundation while Angel celebrated her birthday and gave scholarships to deserving women of the feminist group Gabriela.

They are also happy with their lovelife. Angel has Luis Manzano while Diet has found his new love in girlfriend Rima Ostwani. Sam has moved on and looks forward to falling in love again.

Arts forum in Makiling

As part of the Cultural Center of the Philippines‘ (CCP) 40th Anniversary celebration, an Arts Forum will be held from May 8 to 10 at National Arts Center in Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna.

Among the speakers and panelists are Grace Nono, violinist Coke Bolipata, Tanghalang Pilipino‘s Fernando Josef, Steve Fernandez of Integrated Performing Arts Guild, Quey Reyes of the Philippine Educational Theater Association, Armand Sta. Ana of Bulacan, Bohol’s Gardy Labad, Juan Miguel Escudero, Rosalie Zerrudo, Capiz‘s Al Tesoro, Diary Sargado of Iloilo, Eduardo Morato (former dean of the Asian Institute of Management) and other regional partners.

Another cultural event is the performance tour of Tanghalang Pilipino’s presentation titled Pragres, a musical adaptation of Progress, based on a short story by National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose. The tour will commence on May 8 at the National Arts Center in Mt. Makiling, Laguna.
