Aurora keeps its promises

-

MANILA, Philippines - Members of Aurora graduated from being back-up men to being the artists themselves. Their engaging performances have made them get the fulfillment they thought only reserved for acts they had been played for.

“No matter what I do as part of a showband, no music fans approach me (for an autograph) after a gig. With Aurora, I suddenly felt I’m being appreciated and people begin to think of me as a true artist, not just a guy in black doing his thing at the back,” says Cookie Taylo, the group’s bass player.

The rest of Aurora boys experienced the same, with lead guitarist Philip Queycuep having let his instrument wept as back-up and drummer Kyle Pocallan rolled with his kit to keep stars good company. The band is fronted by Franco Amparo who plays guitar, piano, trumpet, drums and violin.

The four-piece ensemble released its 12-track debut album Praise and Promises of 2007 which it recorded under Soupstar Music. Carrier single Kamay is now being heard on NU 107 and in various FM stations. Its outdoor music video is now being shown on MYX and MTV. (Kamay is also available as digital download exclusive to Globe subscribers only. For Ringback Tones, text KAMAY to 2332, P15/15days. For the MP3 tone, text TT4 to 2910, P30/download. Powered by EGG.)

Other songs in the album are Time Machine, Twenty-o-Seven, Pintuan and Iwas.
