Paraluman, Kean in Tabi

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Paraluman’s newly-released single Tabi from the band’s debut album In Lab is a collaboration with Callalily’s Kean Cipriano (right); and another version, the band’s own rendition.

The moniker Paraluman is rather unusual for the band composed of Madeline Ramboyon (vocals), Arjay Romero (lead guitar), VR Romero (bass), Jay Macalincag (rhythm guitar) and Jimbo Cuenco (drums).

Paraluman can simply mean a beautiful maiden. It was also the showbiz name of the late actress Paraluman who was Sylvia Von Giese in real life.

Whatever is the band’s intention of opting for this word, it is simply synonymous to beautiful music, which a wide range of audience can enjoy.

The band has already topped the charts with its Emily and Teka — both from In Lab album, released by Universal Records.

Paraluman has just won the Favorite Indie Band award from the 2009 MYX Music Awards.
