Getting connected with more people

-

MANILA, Philippines - The past year was a big one for PLDT MyDSL with many people getting connected via the latest broadband technology, thanks to well-attended car-drifting events and weekend sales at malls featuring affordable PCs and Internet connectivity privilege.

This year, things are getting bigger with PLDT MyDSL by going “overdrive.” All that was done in 2008 is repeated this year in a much higher degree, with new venues of Internet socializing.

“This will be the most aggressive year yet for PLDT MyDSL; this is our response to the projection by industry experts that 2009 is the biggest year to date for Internet,” says MyDSL frontrunner Gary Dujali who has tapped new celebrity faces to represent the overdrive campaign.

Within this period, the broadband explosion and its subscriber growth are expected to reach fever pitch as PLDT MyDSL, being the market leader in wired broadband, has begun its fast-run to be ahead of everyone and at the forefront of everything. The Ultra Broadband Blowout that invaded top shopping centers months back has again opened doors in late February with a mall sale at the ground floor of Virra Mall in Greenhills, San Juan City. Mayor JV Ejercito, opened the weekend blowout that invited everyone to get the Plan 990 privilege which provides a client unlimited DSL with a landline for only P990. Customers only need to present IDs and the deal is done.

MyDSL’s new It Girls Rhian Ramos and Isabel Oli, along with Steph Henares and Gino dela Peña, joined mallers and Internet dudes and gals as more people became broadband connected during the first UBB weekend 2009. Iwa Moto also came to the party.

“Overdrive is basically this broadband blowout, speed circuit, and raid-upgrade campus rolled into one, along with a special trip treat,” Dujali says.

That trip is MyDSL’s speed bus or today’s version of Magical Mystery Tour which toured the famed Beatles through its psychedelic journey in the ‘60s.

Starting last March 12, the bus, like a roving billboard and boasting a broadband application hub, has been going around Metro Manila. Everyone is invited to ride and experience the bus lounge filled with cocktail tables for laptops and state-of-the-art downloading stations.

Other MyDSL buses will cover Luzon — from Cavite to Isabela — Cebu, Davao and other parts of Mindanao. The buses will feature celebrities, making the trip extra magical.

The Speed Circuit is set to continue its course and is expected to attract more drifting champs and enthusiasts. The country’s drift king, Dave Feliciano, and lateral drift Champ Alex Perez graced the Luzon Kick-off Drifting event at the Cavite Coliseum last March 14 and Ever Gotesco Ortigas last March 15.

“This is the best way to encapsulate all the things that we’ve been doing in the past, making them even better,” says Dujali who is behind the aggressive MyDSL campaign that has given subscribers more reasons to enjoy broadband technology.

No wonder the top PC dealers like Complink, Accent Micro, Villman have partnered with PLDT myDSL and offer myDSL as an over-the-counter product in their branches nationwide.
