Legend set for Big Dome show
MANILA, Philippines - Neo-soul, pianist and six-time Grammy Award-winner John Legend will take his Evolver World Tour 2009 on a rare detour to Manila for a one-night performance at the Araneta Coliseum tomorrow, March 26. Visiting the country for the first time promises a riveting dose of entertainment front-lined by his latest album Evolver. A testament to Legend’s willingness to experiment and to expand the breadth of his already impressive repertoire, Evolver features noticeable deviations such as Green Light, an upbeat number with rapper Andre 3000 of Outkast, If You’re Out There, an inspiring call for collective action which Legend, an avid Obama supporter, performed at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, Take Me Away and Everybody Knows.
In this year’s Grammy Awards, John won again for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for Stay with Me (By the Sea). In 2006, John won three Grammy’s with his debut album Get Lifted. He bagged the Best New Artist award aside from Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Album. This was followed by two more wins for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for Heaven from his second album Once Again and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group for Family Affair.
