Charice in a Hollywood movie
FLASH: As we go to press, Funfare Update received a report from its Hollywood DPA that Charice is in the cast of Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, a live action-animation production by 20th Century Fox currently shooting in L.A. and slated to be shown in the Philippines in January 2010. It’s not clear yet what role Charice is playing. She will be on the movie’s set next week when members of the press drop by for a visit.
The five-time Grammy Award-winning and one-time American Music Award-winning animated music group started recording novelty songs in the ’50s. They have been featured in several TV shows and in movies, the latest having been Alvin and the Chipmunks which was released in Dec. 2007, directed by Tim Hill and starring Justin Long in the title role.
A Funfare Update friend saw Charice several days ago in Laguna before she and her mom Raquel flew to L.A. after performing at an event at the Shangri-La Plaza.
“She was speaking with a ‘strange’ voice,” the friend observed. “Now I knew why. She sounded like a Chipmunk. She must have been ‘internalizing’ already.”
Incidentally, Charice and her mom have just moved to their own unit at the Lion’s Park Residences, a 1.9-hectare condominium in Parañaque City, five storeys high in a cluster of 10 buildings. It’s the first real-estate property to be acquired by Charice who has been shuttling between the Philippines and the US where she’s getting juicy offers.
Pacquiao-Hatton fight to be aired by ABS-CBN
Manny “Pacman” Paquiao has just jumped ober da bakod from GMA to ABS-CBN, but only as far as the coverage of his May fight with Ricky Hatton is concerned.
He will continue doing two shows with GMA — Totoy Bato, the Robin Padilla starrer in which Pacquiao plays himself; and Pinoy Records which he co-hosts with Chris Tiu.
Pacquiao confirmed it in last night’s edition of TV Patrol World (quoted as is): Nagpapasalamat ako sa aking dating media partner.
And here’s the official ABS-CBN statement:
We are happy with the decision of Manny Pacquiao to be his partner in future fights including his Hatton match on May 2. As his former media partner, we shall support Manny’s campaign to bring honor to the Philippines and to his kababayan here and around the world. To Manny, we say, “Welcome home, Kapamilya!”
