Jean Garcia: I don't want to grow old alone

MANILA, Philippines - Jean Garcia is one of the most controversial stars while she continues to get juicy offers for TV soaps such as the one in All About Eve (which premieres Monday, March 9 on GMA 7), in which she plays a poor girl married to a rich guy (played by Richard Gomez) whose mother (Celia Rodriguez) disapproves of.

1. What’s the real score between you and Jojo Manlongat? (from Bea Paulino, Cainta, Rizal)

“We’re just friends. But in case it’s something more than that, I don’t think Sunshine (Dizon, Jojo’s ex-girlfriend) will mind. Walang pakialaman. We’re not stepping on anybody’s toes, and we’re not hurting anyone.”

2. Have your daughter Jennica Garcia and Mart Escudero split up? (from Cynthia Garcia, Antipolo, Rizal)

“I don’t want to speak for my daughter. All I know is my daughter is focused on her work more than her love life these days. I’m very proud of her. As for Mart, I’ve nothing against him. I can’t say anything against him. I will only speak up if I feel Jennica is being oppressed.”

3. Has Jennica sought your advice about Mart? (from Sharmaine Reyes, Bacoor, Cavite)

“No, she hasn’t. I know I can trust my daughter. She’s more mature than I was when I was that age. She knows about the world more. She knows it’s not enough that the guy looks good and he’s nice to you. And she looks happy anyway.”

4. If Jigo Garcia, Jennica’s father, runs for councilor, will you support him? (from Manny Gonzales, Kamias Road, Quezon City)

“Yes, I will! Live and let live.”

5. It is true you have more suitors than Jennica does? (from John Reyes, Montalban, Rizal).

(Smiles). “ I do go out on dates. But I’m not seeing anyone exclusively. I’m loveless.”

6. Do you still want to get married someday? (from Gina Tolentino, Retiro, Quezon City)

“I don’t want to grow old alone. So, if a guy can prove to me he is serious about his intentions, I will settle down. Meantime, I’m happy with how my career is going.”           — Maridol RaÑoa-Bismark
