MANILA, Philippines - Attractive prizes, including P100,000 in cash, travel perks, a monthly allowance of P25,000, and MYC presidential trophy await the winner of the first Miss Manila Yacht Club, a beauty and brains contest organized by the Manila Yacht Club (MYC) in cooperation with some tourism organizations.
The pageant night will be held in May, with the winner becoming the Ambassadress of Goodwill of the country’s premiere yacht club.
The MYC is a membership club committed to the promotion of sailing as a sport. It is well known internationally for sponsoring the President’s Cup Regatta which is held usually after Easter and participated in by foreign and local yachtsmen.
The club also co-organizes and its members join other major international and Philippine yacht racing events, including the China Sea Race began by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in 1962, the King’s Cup of Thailand and Rajah Muda of Singapore.
Besides the cash prize, monthly allowance and travel perks, the winner and her entourage will be undergoing training in sea sports such as sailing, skiing and diving.
The first, second and third runner-ups will also get cash plus monthly stipend, MYC trophies and other prizes.
Applicants should be single, at least 18 years old, high school graduate, can speak English fluently and other languages if possible; with pleasing personality, at least 5’4” in height, of good moral character, and willing to travel unchaperoned here and abroad.
The winners will have to attend all club functions for one year if needed. The contest is open to Filipinas and foreign residents studying in the Philippines and willing to give up one year term from school if needed
The search is in cooperation with the Department of Tourism, Philippine Tourism Authority, National Association of Independent Travel Agencies, TEAM Philippines (Tourism Educators and Movers Philippines), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Skal International Makati, among others.
