US-based Pinay jazz singer here

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Charmaine Clamor (photo), a Pinay jazz singer based in L.A., graced the recent Fourth Philippine International Jazz Festival at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (Feb. 26) and Rockwell (March 1) along with other artists from different countries.

‘The audience clamored for more, so Charmaine sang three songs instead of just two,’ said her PRO/manager Vir Mateo. ‘The others sang two songs each.’

Four years ago, Charmaine started her gigs around L.A. and then she recorded Searching For the Soul, an album of American standards. Her second album is titled Flippin’ Out.

In May last year, Charmaine was noted as a rising jazz star. Now, she’s acclaimed as a leading Filipina jazz vocalist in the US.

Under Free Ham Records, Charmaine has been touring the US to promote her third album, My Harana: A Filipino Serenade.

She’s spending time in Bulacan with her parents. She’s going back to L.A. on March 8.
