3 young musicians at Merk's

MANILA, Philippines - Three young Filipino musicians who banded together after discovering their love for jazz will perform at Merk’s Bar Bistro in Greenbelt, Makati on March 2 and 9.

Bittersweet Symphony is composed of lead singer Melinda Torre, guitarist Roger Pornobi and percussionist Julius Lopez.

Formed only last year, Bittersweet Symphony has appeared in private functions and music joints. The three had been with other acoustic and/or electric bands.

Torre and Lopez were members of the UP Vocal Ensemble from 2004 to 2008 while Pornobi is a rarity who can claim to have performed both in a church and a heavy metal band.

While regularly performing standards, pop and rhythm and blues, the musicians profess a preference for jazz.

For this reason, performing at Merk’s is a high point in their careers.

Merk’s is located at Level 3 Greenbelt 3, Makati City.
