Hair Asia 2009 event set

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For two decades now, Hair Asia has been working towards elevating the country’s marginalized hairdressing industry by facilitating the advancement of haircutting skills and proficiencies, promoting the status of hairdressers as valuable members of the Philippine workforce, directing attention to the internationally-competitive talents of Filipino hairstylists, and helping disadvantaged members of the industry.

On March 9, Hair Asia toasts these accomplishments during the 19th National Open Championship for Hairstyling and Makeup Competition at World Trade Center, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

“We expect to surpass that number this March,” said Evelyn Alvaran-Cruz, Hair Asia president and CEO.

“The numbers grow with every Hair Asia event and this year, because of the anniversary, we expect even more people to come and celebrate with us.”

With the theme, Hair Evolution, the event will pay tribute to historical icons that have influenced and defined the quest for perfect hair and lasting beauty like Cleopatra, Helen of Troy and Marie Antoinette of centuries past, to Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Farrah Fawcett.

Big production numbers are in the works. Expect performances by dance troupes and celebrity guests. A hair show featuring leading master stylists and their celebrity muses will be held. Aspiring contenders will witness the grand reunion of all Hair Asia grand champions.

Watch out for a hair show featuring leading master stylists and their celebrity muses. It will topbill Patrick Rosas, Bambbi Fuentes and James Cooper.

A photo exhibit will showcase mementoes collected over two decades, chronicling the rich history that has made Hair Asia into the leading authority now.

The grand champion will take home a brand new car. On hand to pass judgment on the aspiring competitors are the big shots of the Philippine hair and beauty industry.

Even spectators will get the chance to get major home appliances and electronic gadgets in a raffle draw. Anniversary souvenirs will also be given to guests.
