Domingo Principe: Actor, writer, director

MANILA, Philippines - As an actor, Domingo Principe’s career spanned several decades, from the late ’20s to the early ’60s. He was leading man to Mary Walter, Rosa del Rosario, Carmen Rosales, Patricia Mijares, Mona Lisa, Anita Linda.

During World War II, Principe acted in stage shows at different moviehouses in Manila. In 1947, he appeared in the first post-war film, Orasang Ginto, with Mila del Sol and Bimbo Danao, directed by Manuel Conde and produced by LVN.

On the side, the actor also wrote and directed dramas, especially on stage and radio.

Principe’s last movie was Hindi Kami Laos, shown in 1962 and co-starring Pol Salcedo, Pempe Padilla, Ben Perez, Reynaldo Dante and Teody Belarmino.

He studied at Torres High School in Tondo and obtained his bachelor of laws at the Far Eastern University. — RKC
