Valencia lecture series on journalism set January 30

The annual lecture series of the Teodoro F. Valencia Foundation, Inc. will start on Jan. 30. It is a 90-minute once-a-week lecture for eight consecutive weeks for graduating students of journalism and mass communication and professionals. The 21st Teodoro F. Valencia Lecture Series on Journalism and Mass Communication is sponsored by the Ayala Foundation, Philippine Trust Company, Land Bank of the Philippines, Manila Electric Company, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Bank of Commerce, GMA 7 and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

The lectures will be held every Friday, 2:30 p.m. at the T.F. Valencia Media Study Center, T.M. Kalaw St., Rizal Park (beside the Dept. of Tourism).

Lecturers include Dr. Ceciliano-Jose Cruz —  Student Publication-Booboos Corrected; Augusto Villanueva, editor-in-chief of People’s JournalIs There Sensationalism in Journalism?; In Defense of the Tabloids by Nick Quijano Jr., managing editor of Abante; Military and Police Reporting — Arts Ilagan of Manila Bulletin; Action Photos and What They Say — Rudy Liwanag, photo journalist of Tempo; The Wonder of Boxing and Other Sports, Quinito Henson, broadcaster and sportswriter of The Philippine STAR; Intrigues and Chismis in Showbiz — Ricky F. Lo, entertainment editor of The Philippine STAR; Cleaning Up Your Stories and Writing About Surveys — Ramon Francisco of Manila Bulletin.
