In the ‘60s and ‘70s, Jun Aristorenas was a popular action star, topbilling such ‘cowboy’ movies as Sagupaan ng mga Patapon, Dugong Tigre, Apat na Bagwis.
But Jun is more than that: dancer, director, and producer. He started as a dancer in the ‘50s and early ‘60s, touring Asia-Pacific and Las Vegas as member of a dance troupe.
As director and producer, under the Junar banner, he made such acclaimed films as Dugong Kayumanggi, Pulang Lupa, Buhay Maynila, Elias, Basilio at Sisa, Dimasalang.
He was nominated FAMAS Best Actor (1972) for Elias and won Best Director at the 1970 Manila Film Festival for Dimasalang. — RKC
