Setting the bar higher

The Philippine Star

ABS-CBN Star Magic’s Roxanne Guinoo, Nikki Gil, Megan Young, Jake Cuenca, Zanjoe Marudo and Rafael Rosell are not afraid to set the bar higher in 2009.

Roxanne Guinoo has transformed into a sexy siren. After becoming a part of Star Circle Quest, everyone thought that Roxanne would become a front runner in the network’s drama department. Little did we know that aside from proving her worth as a drama actress, she would also become a hottest property as well. After Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos and Ligaw Na Bulaklak, Roxanne has also learned the craft of comedy as part of Banana Split. The young actress may be resting her dramatic chops in the meantime but watch out for her soon in Florinda, the last installment of the Susan Roces Cinema Collection, and as Luis Manzano’s lady love in Komiks Presents: Flash Bomba. Roxanne endorses Get Laud and Head and Shoulders. She will soon be launched as a Freego Jeans model.

Zanjoe Marudo is seen on ABS-CBN three times a day and he couldn’t believe that he has managed to come this far after his stint inside the Big Brother house. He entertains kids in the morning as Super Islaw with the Super Inggo re-runs and tickles funny bones on Parekoy. Then he makes hearts a-flutter on Dyosa. Although Dyosa is ending soon, he has already another one lined up, Weddings, with Anne Curtis for the second time. Zanjoe continues to be a part of Bench’s roster of celebrity models and he also endorses Calayan Surgicenter, Gold’s Gym and Dr. Steve Mark Gan dental clinic.

Nikki Gil has made the Filipino proud first by becoming part of High School Musical’s Breaking Free Asia version music video and then singing the theme to one of Hong Kong Disneyland’s attractions. She continues to make everyone sit up and notice not only her singing talent but also her hosting and acting skills as well. After hosting for Pinoy Dream Academy and releasing her Hear My Heart album, Nikki concentrates on improving her acting skills. She is part of Florinda and will soon be appearing in the Star Cinema project starring Vilma Santos and John Lloyd Cruz. Still hosting for A.S.A.P. ’09 and MYX, Nikki also busies herself with endorsement duties for Space clothing plus a fragrance brand soon. She also continues her advocacy for World Vision.

Megan Young says that her life transformed dramatically since she became a kapamilya. Megan has turned from an unknown teeny-bopper to a house hold name especially when she took on the role of the spiteful Marcella on I Love Betty La Fea. She has graced the pages of magazines. She has also been tapped as the celebrity endorser of clothing brand Jellybean. After an impressive performance on Maalaala Mo Kaya’s opening episode opposite Roxanne, Jake Cuenca is excited to show more of his acting chops on the upcoming Tayong Dalawa. He is also set to do a Star Cinema horror flick Estrella with Maja Salvador and Shaina Magdayao. Jake continues to be one of Bench and Calayan Surgicentre’s endorsers. Jake will also shoot a new Head and Shoulders TVC.

Rafael Rosell is one of ABS-CBN’s leading men, having starred on teleseryes opposite Claudine Barretto and Kristine Hermosa. Rafael continues this streak as he is lined up as one of the stars of a soon-to-be-launched ABS-CBN soap. He is also being considered for an important role in the Vilma Santos-John Lloyd Cruz movie.
