And finally, after their successful small-screen team-up in the ABS-CBN soap Lobo, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin are reunited, this time on the big screen in Star Cinema’s romance-drama Love Me Again, directed by Rory B. Quintos.
Formerly (tentatively) titled Land Down Under, Love Me Again was shot in the sweeping ranches in Bukidnon what the story calls for.
Love Me Again is the story of the two lovers, Migo (Piolo) and Arah (Angel), whose beautiful romance is rudely interrupted by economic necessity. With the ranches in Bukidnon closing one by one, Arah is forced to seek greener pasture in the Land Down Under which is looked up to by those working in the ranches as their only hope for salvation. Initially, Migo didn’t agree with Arah’s decision but when his own investments started crumbling he is left with no alternative but to also seek his own fortune in Australia where they are confronted with the possibility of resuming their interrupted romance. But the problem is that Arah has signed a contract with a rancher who has other intentions with her. With that dilemma, torn between acute economic needs and the dictates of their hearts, how will Migo and Arah decide?
As in their TV team-up, for Love Me Again, Piolo and Angel had to learn horseback-riding as required by their roles as cowboy/cowgirl. In the process, Angel even sustained injuries which she just brushed off.
“Part of the hazards of the trade,” said Angel.
As far as Piolo was concerned, shooting Love Me Again was a breeze because, thanks to Lobo he and Angel have already established a harmonious working relationship.
“Which is to say that I enjoy working with Angel whom I admire for her willingness to take risks,” said Piolo.
Also starring in the movie are Ricky Davao as the Australia rancher who employs Arah and develops a fondness for her and Dimples Romana as the Filipina working in Australia who helps Arah get adjusted to the Australian way of life. AJ Dee is also in the cast.
She stated for an early January 2009 release, Love Me Again set a record by being the first Filipino film to be premiered abroad ahead of its Philippine playdate. Love Me Again was premiered last Dec. 6 in Los Angeles with Piolo, Angel and direk Rory in attendance, with Star Cinema supervising producer Malou Santos.
