A brighter 2009 for Backroom
Interesting things happened in the entertainment industry in 2008. They were not always easy but we close the year by counting our blessings. Celebrity babies were born, new talents were discovered, actors made their comebacks, some got married, while Filipino films and actors won international awards. For Backroom, Inc., Christmas is always a joyful celebration.
Last week, Backroom held its annual Christmas party at the Marikina Riverbend Hotel. The staff took centerstage while Backroom talents took the back seat. The party began with a Thanksgiving Mass followed by a sumptuous dinner. Parlor games were played with the staff, artists and guests.
The highlight was the talent contest among Backroom staff. Contestants displayed their talents in song and dance performances. Performers were adjudged by lawyer Wendell Dimaculangan, Melo Esguerra, Tristan Gaynor, Rina Gloriani and Ponay Cabral. Jonathan Valdez won the grand prize with his rendition of Rihanna’s Disturbia. Ryan Brusola, who sang Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love, placed second. The tandem of Leo Rey Puri and Judy Santos came third by dancing rumba. They also bagged the Texters’ Choice Award.
Liza Faraon was voted Employee of the Year.
The night would not be complete without the exchange gifts among the staff. The raffle draw was hosted by Backroom VP Bong Quintana, Leo Rey Puri, Pooh and K Brosas. Each staff brought home gifts and cash prizes. Raffle prizes were also drawn for lucky guests.
Boy Abunda, Backroom’s main man, led the party.
Also seen joining the fun were Erik Santos, Christian Bautista, Sitti, direk GB Sampedro, Arnold Reyes, Lloyd Zaragoza and The CompanY.
Backroom now looks forward to a bigger, brighter and better 2009.
