KC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell against world hunger
Some 800 million people worldwide, mainly women and children, are hungry and malnourished. Hunger and malnutrition remains the biggest risk to health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined claiming one’s life every five seconds, according to the World Food Program (WFP) statistics.
In coordination with Yum Brands, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are teaming up with United Nation’s World Food Program, the world’s leading humanitarian hunger relief organization, to raise awareness and funds to help eradicate hunger.
The hunger relief initiative leverages the extensive reach of YUM’s 35,000 restaurants worldwide. Locally, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell have embarked on a donation drive in each of their 150 restaurants. Among their initiatives, the WFP uses these donations to provide rice to nearly 187,000 students in 800 schools in conflict affected areas of Mindanao. It also gives hot meals in 277 schools and day care centers serving 16,000 children.
KC Concepcion joins the campaign as the National Ambassador Against Hunger for WFP-Philippines, giving voice to the prevalence of hunger in Mindanao. Since her appointment, she has been actively present in all the major feeding programs in Mindanao.
You too can be proactive in the battle against hunger and malnutrition. Donations can be made until Dec. 31 at all Pizza Hut and Taco Bell branches to support the feeding program in Mindanao.
