Audie Gemora adds another milestone to his impressive career as he directs Magical Christmas at Jollitown: A Holiday Musical Special on Dec. 14 at the PICC Plenary Hall.
This is Jollibee’s first-ever musical and serves as its grand Christmas treat for all Jollibee Kids Club members.
“I feel honored to be involved in the project,” says Audie. “I’ve worked with Jollibee before, both as a talent and a director, so I am familiar with the company. They’re practically family.”
Based on the hit TV show Jollitown, Magical Christmas at Jollitown tells the story of one boy’s quest for love, friendship and happiness through music and dance. Apart from featuring the Jollifriends — Jollibee, Hetty, Popo Yum and Twirlie, the show also features Noni Buencamino, Menchu Launchengco-Yulo, Jamie Calabig and talents from Repertory Philippines and Trumpets.
Audie has lined up a slew of tricks designed to transform Magical Christmas at Jollitown into a visual spectacle that will delight kids and the young-at-heart. Aside from the live song and dance numbers and a fantastical stage design by Toots Javellana, the show will incorporate pre-recorded scenes that will be shown on a giant screen and acts such as unicyclists, acrobats and gymnasts.
“It’s still a children’s show so it can’t be that deep. Still, we wanted to make the characters more believable so that kids can relate to them more easily,” says Audie. “In the end, I just want the audience to have a good time and have a good grasp on the characters and the story.”
Show times are 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. JKC members can avail of the tickets in selected Jollibee stores in Metro Manila upon purchase of the Jollibee Kids Club Christmas Meal (which includes a set of one-piece Chickenjoy with rice, Regular Yum, Fries and a regular drink) worth P150 or any food purchase amounting to P150.
