In the ‘60s, a number of contract stars of the major studios, turned freelancer, among them Nestor de Villa, erstwhile leading man of Nida Blanca for years in LVN pictures. Nestor’s starrers as freelancer included People’s Pictures Sandakot na Alabok, where he shed his glamour-boy image.
His co-stars were Cynthia Zamora, Lauro Delgado and Cesar Ramirez, who used to be with Sampaguita.
Sandakot na Alabok, hyped as a ‘magnificent film,’ was serialized in Espesyal Komiks and dramatized over DZRH, written by Clodualdo del Mundo.
Nestor would later be reunited with his LVN leading lady Nida Blanca on television and movies produced by Regal and Viva. — RKC
