After more than 18 years in the beauty business, the Belo Medical Group has undoubtedly established itself as a medical institution which reaches out to more people who want to avail of its wide range of treatments and services for dermatology and cosmetic surgery.
It is for this reason that the clinic branched out into TV production with Belo Beauty 101, a 30-minute beauty and medical tele-magazine program which initially aired on The Filipino Channel (TFC) last year.
This time, local audiences will get to watch the first season of Belo Beauty 101 as the show airs on Studio 23, starting tomorrow, Nov. 8 from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
Belo Beauty 101 aims to attract a global market for the Belo Medical Group by emphasizing the clinic’s equipment, treatments and services which are at par with international standards. It also seeks to promote the Philippines as the beauty capital of Asia and Belo as the premier destination for medical tourism in the region.
Dr. Vicki Belo is the show’s resident in-house beauty and medical expert, who introduces the clinic’s wide range of treatments and services. She also shows her mettle in TV hosting.
Each week, the show features a guest co-host who is also a Belo celebrity endorser. The co-host will get to reveal a beauty secret in connection to the episode’s theme, give testimonials or facilitate Q & A discussions with Dr. Belo.
The male co-hosts include Willie Revillame, Albert Martinez, Troy Montero, Christopher de Leon, Derek Ramsey, Edu Manzano, Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Jeremy Marquez, Christian Bautista, John Lloyd Cruz and Dr. Hayden Kho Jr.
Belo Beauty 101 features topics that people want to know about beauty and cosmetic surgery, but are too afraid to ask. The thematic episodes every week give viewers a peek into the world of cosmetic surgery, which Dr. Belo revolutionized for the past 18 years.
From the glamorous side of beauty, the program captures even the unglamorous part with reality VTRs of the actual procedures done on celebrities and patients, documenting one’s complete transformation. It covers the emotional and psychological aspects of the procedure that a patient undergoes.
In line with the weekly episodic theme, a beauty tourist is flown in to recount his or her experience on the treatments he or she underwent in the clinic. It reinforces Belo’s thrust on medical tourism.
Moreover, Belo Beauty 101 highlights unique and beautiful locations or events in the country that tourists can flock to and entice more balikbayan to return to the Philippines. It also serves to erase the stigma most foreigners have about how unsafe and backwards the Philippines is.
Celebrities who underwent specific procedures at the Belo clinic give testimonials on their cosmetic surgery experience. The list includes Joyce Jimenez, Katrina Halili and Joanne Quintas who talk about Smart Lipo, Eat, Bulaga! co-host Toni Rose Gayda who discusses Thermage and Lorna Tolentino who swears by the wonders of Fraxel.
Zsa Zsa Padilla endorses the non-surgical Pan-Germinal (Pan-G) facial treatment for sagging skin, Phoemela Barranda does breast augmentation, Liza Lorena tries the Aptos Thread face lift and Ara Mina does Lipo Lite.
Meanwhile, Belo Beauty 101 Season 2 is now on rerun on TFC until end of December. Three beauty challengers were flown in from the US for their respective makeovers at Belo.
