Vina not hiding pregnancy

It’s confirmed: Vina Morales is two months pregnant, courtesy of her boyfriend Cedric Lee.

“No,” Vina told Funfare Update. “I’m not hiding it. Nobody asked me about it, so I didn’t talk about it.”

Vina just came back from Japan where she and other ABS-CBN stars Sam Milby, Erik Santos and Chokoleit were featured in a show that marked the second anniversary of TFC (The Filipino Channel) Ko.

“I didn’t tell them,” said Vina, “even if they were wondering why I didn’t go with them to the gimik.”

Vina is turning 33 on Oct. 17.

“From the start,” she added, “Cedric and I really wanted to have a baby. He’s very happy that we’re having one.”

She didn’t mention anything about marriage.

Jamie is UST Diamond Awardee

Congratulations to Jamie Rivera (Mary Jane Cruz Mendoza) who was recognized by UST College of Commerce and Business Administration as a Diamond Awardee “for having shown professional excellence, and exemplary moral and Christian conduct in her chosen field, living the true Thomasian legacy.”

“I’m honored,” said Jamie who received the award on the occasion of UST’s 75th anniversary.

Besides a fund-raising concert for the scholars of the UST College of Education, Jamie is performing in the following shows: Singapore’s Prestige magazine’s 8th-anniversary ball at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Singapore, Sept. 30; blessing and inauguration of the Boracay Convention Center, Oct. 1; and Beyond Dreams at the CCP Main Theater, for the benefit of the St. Pius X Parish, Oct. 12.

2008 Miss Earth contest launched

Reigning Miss Earth Jessica Nicole Trisko (of Canada), together with 2008 Miss Philippines Earth Karla Paula Henry, recently went to Vietnam to spearhead several environmental and humanitarian activities, including mangrove tree planting and giving gifts to orphans.

Then, she formally launched the eighth Miss Earth contest at the Ambassador Sala of Traders Hotel Manila, the official residence of the 2008 Miss Earth. The number 8 is a symbol of prosperity for Carousel Productions which is behind the annual search.

As the seventh Miss Earth, Jessica has been busy visiting several countries including (besides Vietnam) the USA, Singapore, Puerto Rico and Indonesia.

The new Miss Earth will be crowned on Nov. 9 at the Clark Expo Amphitheater in Pampanga, with more than 80 contestants. ABS-CBN will cover the coronation night “live,” while Star World and The Filipino Channel (TFC) will have a delayed telecast.

•  The remains of Gabby Concepcion’s father Rolly lie at the chapel of Montessori (without the “O.B.”) de San Juan, Montessori Lane corner P. Guevarra, San Juan City. Interment will be on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

•  Reacting to yesterday’s item about Gabby Concepcion, Rose Flaminiano said that she called Rollie “only once” and that was, she said, on Aug. 18 after Gabby’s Music Museum concert. She said they didn’t talk about the ongoing case between her and Gabby. However, Gabby insisted that Rose called up his dad a few times (about the current case) despite his pleas to her not to bother his dad.
