Zorayda Sanchez, 58

Comedienne-writer Zorayda Sanchez died of breast cancer last Wednesday at her home in Angono, Rizal. She was 58.

Zorayda, a journalism graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas, is survived by daughter Alexis Joyce.

After finishing college in 1972, Zorayda wrote scripts for DZRH drama programs. Her first film was the late Claudia Zobel’s Shame.

She zoomed to popularity in the ‘80s, when she starred in the gag show Going Bananas with Christopher de Leon, Johnny Delgado, Jay Ilagan, Edgar Mortiz and Al Tantay.

Her other movies were Working Girls, Feel na Feel, Hotdog, Petrang Kabayo, Pilyang Kuting and Bagets.

Zorayda’s remains lie at 227 Dona Aurora St., Barangay Poblacion, Angono, Rizal. Maridol R. Bismark
