Not just for kids
If you are into sports show that you and your kids can watch together, then Sports Kidz is for you. The show, now on its fourth season is packed with bigger and more exciting episodes that will make your Saturday weekends more enjoyable. For one, it is pure entertainment at its best. There is no let-up in the excitement, in each of the segments in the show. Second, children can have fun while learning. Third, parents are assured of bonding time with their children as the show is not only for kids but for them too. It has stuff adults would love to see.
Some of the segments in the show are Hype Sports Events a segment where sports clinics like basketball, football are shown and discussed; Schooled features famous sports personalities; Out of Bounds is about anything and everything you want to know about sports; All The Right Moves an instructional features on various sports like badminton and racing to prevent the viewers from accidents, torn ligaments and other sports injuries; MVP or the Most Valuable Player features future sports superstars; Tekkie Muna a showcase on different sports technology from breakthroughs in shoes, sportswear, sports gadgets to the latest inventions and discoveries in sports.
Sports Kidz is hosted by four young sports wiz who excel in their chosen sport. They are Katrice delos Reyes, Javi Benitez, Anton Asistio and Sara Castaneda. Katrice is an ice skating champion who has competed and won in both local and international competitions such as the 2007 and 2006 ISI Skate Asia and the 2005 ISI World Recreational Team Championships. Katrice is also into softball, swimming, golf, skateboarding, badminton and taekwondo.
JeT Racing team captain Javi is junior karting champion that has won races in the Philippines and represented the country in karting competitions in Macau and Italy. Javi has received the Philippine Junior Karter of the Year award and clinched the overall Asian Formula 125 Open Juniors award of the 2007 Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC), ROK Juniors title and the Formula 125 Open Juniors crown in the local Shell Helix Karting Super Series.
Anton is a junior basketball player from Ateneo whose team became the national champion in SBP (Small Basketeers of the Philippines) last year.
Soccer player Sara, the newest addition in the show just came back from a European tour. Her team won the ladies 14 and under division in the Costa Blanca Cup ’08. Her team also played in Sweden for the Gothia Cup ’08 (World Youth Cup) where it was entered in the Girls 12 division.
But how do these kids balance doing a show with school and their sports? Javi explains, “School still is priority.” Anton on the other hand says, “For me, it’s school first, then game, then shooting.” Sara says it would depend on the need.
Sports Kidz airs Saturdays, 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Studio 23.
