Living in the Internet age

Only one word can describe the many things going on these days: Chaos.

Every day, a new type of technology is introduced. All these high-tech machines may be good, but sometimes, we might not realize the harm they could do to the next generation.

I recently met a new set of friends. What caught my attention is that on-line games can almost be considered addictive.

What amazes me most is that you would think games were just for kids. At least I did. But again they have proven me wrong.

Once I dropped by an Internet café to pick up a girlfriend. It was unbelievable how these shops literally have their own community.

I have never been a great fan of sitting in front of the screen and browsing the Net to see what’s going on around the world.

It took me awhile to understand how some people could stay in the Internet café for days and days just playing games or browsing on-line.

It could be considered a form of addiction. There are many people out there who just live off from the Internet.

This may sound a bit odd, but if we think of it, technology, especially the Internet is a greater world than what’s really in front of us.

There are so much more things you can see, learn and do through the Net. The only thing I’ve ever really appreciated about it is being able to communicate with friends and family around the world, and getting some work done as well.

You.tube is a site where people from around the world can view and post videos of anything they want.

This site was introduced early 2005, and grew much faster than any of its kind. A little over a year after it was launched, You.tube announced that over two billion videos are being watched worldwide.

But the question is, should this be allowed by law, when everyone has been making a fuss on piracy?

This site has the world right at the tip of the viewers’ fingers. Almost every person familiar with the Internet knows this.

Movies, TV shows, commercials, home videos and different kinds of videos are available. So what’s the use of purchasing from those who worked hard to make these products? It doesn’t make sense, does it?

I have mixed emotions. I feel sorry for those who got their videos posted and have no idea how to control the site.

However, there have been a few famous “celebrities” on this site. One is Chris Crocker, who posted a video defending Britney Spears last year. It’s titled Leave Britney Alone!

The video got over eight million views on its second day. The video has been referenced in a few TV shows, parodied by many other You.tube users and featured in the comedy spoof Meet The Spartans.

All his videos combined have been viewed over 65 million times. A few other celebrities discovered through this site are Brooke Brodack, Esmee Denters, Lisa Donovan, Terra Naomi and Ysabella Brave, among others.

If you have no idea who Chris Crocker is, search his videos in You.tube and enjoy a good laugh at some of his videos, especially the one defending Britney.

He also has a couple of other videos talking about “gay hate” and was very blunt in saying people should be more concerned about other issues than making a great fuss about his crying Britney video.

Chris is quite a character. I wouldn’t mind meeting him in person.

Chris Crocker is only his screen name. He says that he prefers to keep his real identity and location private for safety purposes.

Who knows? He might just be living right around the corner from us. Enjoy his videos.
