Amy practices what she preaches

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

Last Christmas, Amy Perez sent us a beautifully packaged longganisa, tocino and ham. The processed foods came from First Food Link Distributors, Inc. Amy who hosts Kabuhayan Swak na Swak sells frozen food on the side. She practices what she preaches. On radio and TV she provides tips on business as well as personal matters. Sometimes, she becomes a psychiatrist for radio callers. When we received the longganisa, tocino and ham package, we were not surprised. Amy is a very enterprising woman. She is almost into everything. She used to have a small bake shop. She also was into the catering business. Now she delivers frozen goods. And these are reasonably prized quality goods. There are other showbiz personalities who are as enterprising as Amy: Ai Ai de las Alas has her fast food joint called Ai Sarap, Dominic Ochoa has Thumbs Up Ice Cream kiosks found in shopping malls, Calvin Millado has franchises of Congo Grill, Judy Ann Santos has Kaffe Carabana, Lorna Tolentino has mineral water outlet. Cesar Montano, Diether Ocampo, Joel Torre, Niño Muhlach are also into food business.

Filipinos love longanisa, tocino and ham for their breakfast. And when you buy ham, longanisa or tocino from First Food Link (FFL), it is likely that the first word that will come to mind is “sulit.” First Food Link Distributors offers quality food at very affordable prices. As its slogan says, “first food link, your connection to quality food.”

“We all know how Filipinos eat. Basta maisipan, kakain at kakain ang Pinoy. Anywhere they go be it shopping, the movies or malling, Filipinos would eat before going home. That’s why we went into this business,” explains FFL’s president Arnold de Guzman. “Not only that Filipinos love to eat food, but they also dream of having their own business. With both things in mind, we came up with three business packages to suit their needs and budget.”

FFL business packages include a dealership package, a Sulit Pinoy food cart package and a Product Center package.

For just P 1,888, one can be a dealer of various everyday Filipino favorites like their best-tasting embotido, longganisa, tocino, tapa, sausages, bangus and chicken products. “Ito yung neighborhood business package namin. This is where your immediate customers are your neighbors and friends,” says Arnold.

With their Sulit Pinoy Food Cart (rice toppings and street balls at P 8,888 per package) you can sell affordable cooked food packs at your place of business from P35 to P 55 per food pack for rice toppings and from P7 to P16 per order for streetballs with a gross profit of 40 percent on the average. With your 24 percent discount, you get your cart, cooking equipment, small wares, initial products, and have your staff trained for free. Plus, you can sell frozen products to dealers within the area or profit from those buying at retail.

But if you are one person who wants it big time, a product center is just right for you. With an investment of P88,888 you get a freezer, initial products, a store signage, a one-time franchise fee, and 28 percent discount on all products. “Here you become a mini processed food shop where dealers, Sulit Pinoy cart owners and other customers can go and buy your products. You become an extension of our office,” adds Arnold.

First Food Link offices are located at 105 Doña Soledad Ave., Better Living Subd. in Parañaque (613-4162) and Unit 202 Times Square Bldg., Examiner cor. Times Sts. Bgy. West Triangle, Quezon City (412-4697/415-8105), or 0917-5013663; 0918-9025465; 0922-8213284. You may also visit www.firstfoodlink.com or e-mail at [email protected] and [email protected].

KC exceeds expectations

KC Concepcion proved to all and sundry that she has the makings of a great actress. KC delivered a riveting performance in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya which was shown Friday last week. “It’s so fulfilling talaga na alam mong pinaghirapan mo. I just wanted to give more than what the people were expecting,” says KC during an interview with The Buzz. Also in The Buzz interview, KC denied that she is dating Richard Gutierrez. “I am not dating Richard Gutierrez.  Marami po akong kaibigan na lalaki at hindi po isyu na makita ko sila once in a while.” KC is also set to do a movie project. Among the names being floated as her leading man are Sam Milby, Piolo Pascual, Derek Ramsay and John Lloyd Cruz.
