Now, it’s Beyoncé’s turn

Barely a few weeks after enjoying the gorgeous vocals of Josh Groban, Metro Manila is in for another big and truly gorgeous treat. The lovely Beyoncé Knowles is coming to town. The singer, songwriter, producer, actress, fashion designer, pop icon, etc. etc. will be strutting her stuff at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 7. The booty-shaking show comes courtesy of MTV Philippines, which also brought in Groban, but this time in partnership with Globe.

Now big here is almost an understatement. Beyoncé, who started out as one of the girls of Destiny’s Child is a big star in every sense of the word. The fact that she chose to include the Philippines in her tour itinerary shows that our country has become an important destination in concert tours. Take note that Groban did not perform in any other venue in Asia. He came straight to Manila from Australia. Fans in Hong Kong, Taipei, Jakarta and other nearby cities could have easily made the trip just to watch his show.

Given the way the concert scene is growing, all it will take is a little push among promoters to bring music loving tourists into the country. This was what Singapore aimed for a few years ago by building world class venues and bringing in big stars. We already have the venues, more are being built and the stars have already been coming in droves. We are almost near the end of the year but we still have performances by Akon and America to look forward to. I am sure we can expect more big names in 2008. Rumors have it that pop rock idols Maroon 5 have already said yes. Who knows, we might soon hear that Celine Dion, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, etc. etc. have also decided that they want to enjoy Manila.

And they will. Groban at the PICC looked like he loved singing to us. I am sure that the audience who will be present for The Beyoncé Experience Live in Taguig will also make sure that Beyoncé has a great time while they are enjoying her sounds and the sight of this beautiful girl.

Beautiful while referring to Beyoncé is also almost an understatement. This girl simply has perfect features from that perky nose to her famous derriere and her skin simply glows. That is what I noticed most in her concert video. She has silken, honey colored skin that you cannot help but marvel at. Makes you wonder what lotion or scrub she uses to come up looking so radiant.

This girl also has the hits and would you believe that she has only two solo albums! I do not know if she still does Destiny’s Child stuff like Survivor or the more recent Check on It, but believe me she has more than enough out of Dangerously in Love and B’Day. Think Crazy in Love, Baby Boy, Me, Myself and I, Naughty Girl, Déjà Vu, Ring the Alarm, Irreplaceable, Beautiful Liar and Upgrade U. And there are others to watch out for like Get Me Bodied and Green Light.

All these hits, several of them No. 1 sellers worldwide and Grammy winners out of only two albums! As any music producer will tell you, a batting average like Beyonce’s can only be described as sensational. Not only that, she also has hits from other sources like So Amazing, a duet with Stevie Wonder or Listen from the Dream Girls soundtrack which I am sure that Pinoys would simply adore to hear her sing live.

Beyoncé is one amazing girl and from what I have seen in her Wembley concert video, she also puts up one amazing show. If you want more goodies about her. You can also add the fact that the most scandalous thing heard about her was when the members of early Destiny’s Child left the group. From what we read in the fanzines and hear in showbiz, she has never done anything as gross as showing off her non-undies or gotten caught while driving under the influence. She has also been with only one boyfriend, superstar rapper and producer Jay-Z all these years. Parents looking for a pop star image model might do well to take a look at the successful, well-mannered and incredible looking Miss Knowles.

I know that one cannot help but wonder that if these are all true then can Beyoncé be real? I do hope she is.
