Janno is willing to mend his ways

Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga may not have reconciled, but neither are they lunging at each other’s throats. In fact, Janno has gone to his and Bing’s lovenest and they’re again sharing the same bed.
The set-up has been this way for months now, after Janno gave up the condo unit he stayed at the height of their marital woes.
But it’s too early for Janno-Bing followers to rejoice. Sleeping on the same bed, it turns out, doesn’t mean the two are back to being lovey dovey again.
"We’re just comfortable sleeping on the same bed," clarifies Janno. "But," he quickly assures you, "we’re getting there."
No, he hasn’t been twiddling his fingers and letting the situation boil over.
"I’ve been trying to fix things with her for quite some time. It’s an ongoing process," Janno reveals.
The repentant husband adds he’s willing to reform if only Bing will give him another chance. And no, Janno’s decision to move in again to the family home didn’t stem from a female fan’s death threat on him, Bing and their daughters.
It stemmed from a padre de familia’s natural desire to see his family whole again.
The stalker has since been released from jail and has stopped texting her "Kuya Janno." Still, Janno refuses to let his guard down.
"She may have stopped sending text messages to me, but she’s still nowhere to be found. She has been released from jail and I know she’s still in Manila," he explains.
Cautious, however, is hardly the word to describe Janno’s outlook on his career these days. He admits he has been "too lax" in this department lately. And Janno knows it’s not helping him any.
"I’ve been taking it easy, limiting myself to singing on TV. The challenge is gone," he relates.
So when GMA offered him to play Inspector Clavio, the police officer keen on capturing lead star Lupin (Richard Gutierrez) in spite of his Houdini skills in a teledrama that premieres tonight, Janno could have hugged his director (Mike Tuviera).
The role is too juicy to resist for someone used to playing a sidekick on TV and the movies.
"This time, my character can stand on its own. It’s serious comedy," Janno crows.
To show just how dead serious he is with his role, Janno came to the Lupin presscon in beige trenchcoat. As any Sherlock Holmes fan knows, the trenchcoat is the renowned private eye’s signature attire.
Janno also vowed he will never come late for taping and delay production the way he has done before.
"I admit I’m a perennial latecomer," he admits. "But my schedule is flexible. I can forego sleep if needed."
Thus did this self-confessed insomniac allay the fears of network executives who told Janno straight to his face how concerned they are about his erratic way of showing up in the set.
"I told them I can stay up late at night, that I can still be up and about when the rest are fast asleep, and I can go to the set early if my director calls for it," adds Janno.
He has kept his word so far. Janno has never been late for the past few weeks taping has gone on full swing.
Okay, down with those eyebrows. Janno is proving that this time around, he means serious business.
