Gosiengfiao was one of the three directors of Vilma Santos’ Lipad, Darna, Lipad, with Emmanuel Borlaza and Elwood Perez. He also directed the launching movies of Dina Bonnevie (Katorse, 1980), Snooky Serna (Bata Pa Si Sabel, 1981) and the triumvirate of Dina, Snooky and Maricel Soriano (Underage, 1980).
The late director’s film, Temptation Island, starring Dina, Jennifer Cortez, Bambi Arambulo, Azenith Briones and Deborah Sun, was transformed into a stage play.
Some of his memorable movies in the ‘80s were Nympha (1980) with Alma Moreno, Blue Jeans (1981) with Dina and Alfie Anido and Bakit Ba Ganyan? (1981) where Dina and Vic Sotto first teamed up.
Gosiengfiao also directed 14 Going Steady in 1984, starring the second batch of Regal Babies, Janice de Belen, Gretchen Barretto and Nadia Montenegro.
Gosiengfiao’s remains were cremated at the Loyola Crematorium in Marikina yesterday.
Earlier, showbiz lost Lily Marquez, a star of the ‘60s. The Premiere Productions star died of lung cancer last Saturday, March 10. She was in her mid-60s.
Marquez, wife of the late Ronald Remy, starred in drama and romantic films with Celia Rodriguez and Shirley Gorospe. Marquez is survived by her two daughters.
