Rediscovering the kid in me

SIZZLING HOT - SIZZLING HOT By Juliana Palermo -
Isn’t it awesome to sometimes get in touch with the kid in us?

At my age – 21 – it gets a bit embarrassing to watch cartoons and actually enjoy them, or even go to amusement parks.

We always have children to accompany for such things. Even then, I’ve never been the type to enjoy amusement parks such as Magic Mountain, Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland and others.

I always thought of it as a cheesy idea, and how fake those cartoon characters are. Watching the real thing was what I enjoyed more.

It was just never in me to appreciate these man-made moving pictures. I guess this all started when I realized Santa Claus wasn’t real.

I didn’t enjoy Christmas as much since then. This may sound funny, but I think I’ve recently found that kid in me who believes in fairytales.

I spent last weekend in Hong Kong with friends. We went to celebrate a friend’s wedding anniversary and one of their daughters’ birthday, whose name is also Juliana.

I was mostly looking forward to the restaurants, shops, and maybe the bars out there. We have already set aside one whole day to take the kids out to Disneyland.

This idea didn’t quite sit well with me. I’ve already set my mind to getting bored in there and maybe leaving a little earlier than the others.

I wasn’t so excited to wake up at eight in the morning to get ready for this trip. The train ride was pretty fun.

I remembered going to school before and running to the train station to make it on time for class.

These are the times when we just can’t help but smile to ourselves. Looking back can also be very healthy.

It was a nice and sunny day when we arrived in Disneyland. I saw the excitement in the kids’ eyes.

I felt the innocence of their happiness to be in there. I went along with them to some rides, and I actually enjoyed it.

The best part of it was the play, where the characters came to life. It was amazing. The costumes, the music and the stunts they did to make this fantasy come to life were unbelievable.

That was the only time I learned to appreciate the hunky Tarzan! Our next stop was the 3D theater.

Believe it or not, that was my first time ever watching a 3D show. I loved it! The special effects were great.

Even the smell of the apple cake we saw on screen existed in the air. The water splashes and the wind effects came along with the show, too.

Our whole trip to Hong Kong was very memorable. This was the first Asian country I visited years ago.

All my other trips have something to do with work or a special purpose. This time, it was pure fun and excitement, especially spending time with people who really matter to me.

By the way, I’ve been taking a little bit of my time every day to watch the TV series called Prison Break.

I would sleep at 6 a.m. just to finish one whole disc! This is my first time ever getting hooked on a TV series.

Prison Break
is awesome! I would give it four thumbs up! The actors are hot, especially Wentworth Miller. I can assure you that once you start watching the show, you won’t let go.

It’s a must. But before you start watching the series, please find some time to catch our new film, Barang. Our premiere night is tomorrow at SM North EDSA and regular playdate is on Oct. 18. So come and see what witchcraft is all about.

Have a great Sunday!
