The search is over: Sunshine Dizon is Bakekang!

BREAKING NEWS: The search is over. Sunshine Dizon (photo) is "it" – that is, as the title role in Bakekang, the new GMA fantaserye based upon one of the komiks masterpieces of Komiks King Carlo J. Caparas.

In the ’70s movie version, Nora Aunor as Bakekang had a daughter named Kristal, sired by an American, whom she pushed into showbiz.

In the GMA fantaserye, Sunshine will have two daughters, played by Lovi Poe and Yasmien Kurdi. A new touch will be provided by the character of Sheryl Cruz as Bakekang’s nemesis. Sheryl will have a daughter, to be played by Nadine Samonte, whom she will pit against Bakekang’s daughters in a heated race for stardom.

"The actress who must play Bakekang should be pretty but not conscious of her beauty," GMA 7’s SVP for Entertainment Wilma Galvante told Funfare in an exclusive interview. "In most of the scenes, she will be ‘uglified’ and she’ll turn into a beauty only in the dream sequences."

Before choosing Sunshine, GMA initially considered other stars, two of them Angel Locsin and Jolina Magdangal.

Bakekang
is the newest addition to the growing list of movies being adapted for TV in a reverse trend. Before, hit TV series were done into movies.

Bakekang
will start airing very soon.
