Terence, Tyrone & Twilight Dancers

SIZZLING HOT - SIZZLING HOT By Juliana Palermo -
Nowadays, it seems sexy roles are the last resort for most artists.

It’s very unfortunate that there are still some people who can’t seem to open their eyes more and see the art of being sexy.

I can’t really blame those who think that way because there are a lot of films being put out that are not really very tasteful, and these films are clearly the ones that bring "sexy" roles to a whole new different level.

Public images don’t always go with the person’s real identity. What they don’t know is that portraying sexy roles takes a lot of guts.

Terence Baylon, who won Best Child Actor awards in the early ’90s for Ipagpatawad Mo with Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon, is making a bold comeback.

Terence played a very challenging role as Junjun, Vilma’s autistic son back in 1991.

When he turned 11, Terence stopped acting and focused more on school. This was a very awkward stage for him because they couldn’t give him the right roles mainly because he appeared more mature than his age.

Finally, after 10 long years of growing, Terence has made a very surprising decision to accept the project Twilight Dancers and play the role of a macho dancer.

"I wanted to challenge myself to do this role," Terence says. "It’s just a movie. I’m an actor. There are a lot of famous stars in other countries who accept roles like this.

"I want to prove to myself that I can be versatile as an actor and I can do more than what people expect me to."

So he wants to prove versatility? It sounds good to me.

Before Twilight Dancers, Terence was part of Seiko Films’ I Wanna Be Happy. He plays Cherry Pie Picache’s son.

However, for Twilight Dancers, Terence really had to go through workshops and did other things on the side to prepare for his daring role.

Some years ago, Terence and his parents brought a friend of theirs from the US to a gay bar.

"My dad and I went out half an hour into the show. I couldn’t stand it. I felt bad for these guys. I can see the sadness and the blank expressions on their faces when they perform.

"They seem unhappy. It’s sad. I feel there’s more to them than what we see," Terence says.

A part of their workshop was to actually go to a gay bar and study what really goes on inside their world.

One of the things Terence considers is their facial expressions and tender body movements.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Terence encounters indecent proposals after this film is released.

"I just want to be friends with them (gay men). I don’t want to be bought. I’m not a call boy but as much as possible, I want to be friends with everyone."

Like what some people say, "never say never." That’s exactly what Terence implies as I asked him about gay relationships.

I was shocked! I wish I saw his facial reaction as he made that comment! I was only able to speak to him over the phone.

Speaking of reactions to gay relationships, Tyrone Perez, who plays a more daring "macho dancer" role in the film, also made a very interesting comment about the matter.

"I just want them to be my friends. I have limitations when it comes to that but I admire gay men.

"Life wouldn’t be as fun without them. They’re smart and contribute to a lot of things in this world, especially in showbusiness.

"They provide creativity and can do more things than others. "

Tyrone’s choice in accepting the film amused a lot of people.

In fact, his parents have no idea exactly how far he would be going in his "sexy" role.

Tyrone has been preparing to do a love scene with a man and a woman. This would be his first time to do a same sex kissing scene.

Tyrone was one of the Avengers of StarStruck Batch 1. When you think about StarStruck, you think of wholesome things.

Tyrone feels he’s ready to do more serious roles. He has always wanted to do more than just "wholesome" roles.

"I don’t see anything wrong with my decision. Twilight Dancers is a quality film. It’s not just about men taking their clothes off. It’s got a moral lesson to it. That’s why I accepted the offer," he says.

He admits feeling very awkward exposing more skin in front of people but he feels a lot more comfortable now after the workshops and pictorials.

He hopes that someday, I would be his leading lady for a movie. I should say good luck on that but we can never tell.

By the way, the picture of Terence and Tyrone was taken by photographer Julius Villanueva.
