And the winner is... Aga Muhlach, Ulirang Ama 2006!

Aga has gone up and down the stage several times, accepting Best Actor trophies, but his recent award is something else.

"I’m honored," Aga told Funfare. "Being recognized as an actor is more of a personal achievement but being recognized as a father is another award altogether because you are chosen based on how you (and your wife) raise your children."

The award, to be given on June 18, is from the National Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Foundation, Inc., with DENR Secretary Angelo Reyes as honorary chairperson and Dr. Rodolfo Talag as chairperson. Aga is chosen as awardee in the field of arts and culture.

In her letter to Aga, Baby O’Brien, the foundation’s special projects director, wrote: This prestigious and highest award is given to an Outstanding Filipino Father of significant achievements in his respective field of endeavor and as a father.

Aga has three children, Luigi (turning 19) with Janice de Belen, and twins Andres and Atasha (turning five years old in November) with wife Charlene Gonzalez. (They marked their fifth wedding anniversary last May 28.)

Speaking of Luigi (Iggy Boy), Aga said, "My son is a nice boy. He’s going through a lot in his own life. I want him to experience everything. If he falls, he should know how to rise by himself. Gusto ko matuto siya. He should learn from his every experience. That’s how I’ve gone through life – by experiencing all the nasty and crazy things and learning from them. I really fell, talagang bumagsak ako. I hit rock bottom and that’s how I learned my own lessons in life."

And what does he tell Luigi about girls?

"I told him, ‘Luigi, you wait. When I started going after girls, may trabaho na ako. Ikaw, wala ka pang trabaho, pag nangtsi-chicks ka akala mo kayang-kaya mo. Forget girls first and attend to your studies.’"

So has Aga become immune to, you know, life’s hard knocks?

Not quite, said Aga.

According to Aga, he and Charlene still get affected by unsavory rumors, such as the one about them breaking up which was proven by time to be unfounded.

"Product of idle minds," was how Aga called it. "That was foul. It hurt because whoever spread that rumor didn’t know how Charlene and I take care of each other, and our children."

Asked what he learned from his parents (Anita and Cheng Muhlach) that he’s now applying in raising his own children, Aga said, "I want them to appreciate the value of hard work. What I want is for my children to do what I failed to do – finish college. They have a choice where to study, whether here or abroad. I’ll give them the best education that I can afford."

What if the kids follow in his and Charlene’s footsteps to showbiz?

"They have to finish their studies. After that, they can do anything they want. Otherwise, they won’t get anything from me and they have to learn to fend for themselves."

The Muhlachs usually spend weekends at their farm in Batangas.

"That’s my happiest moment," said Aga, "when I am with my wife and my children, just being ourselves, enjoying ourselves."

On June 18 when Aga receives his Ulirang Ama 2006 award, for sure Charlene and his children will be there to share that "one moment in time" with him.

Said Aga, "The award is as much for them as it is for me."

Pinay porn star for Governor of Nevada

I got this interesting piece of news (lifted from Asian Sex Gazette) from Pete Lacaba who got it from somebody else. It’s about a Pinay porn star named Melody Damayo, whose screen name is Mimi Miyagi, who’s running for Governor of Nevada in next year’s US elections.

Here’s an excerpt from that Asian Sex Gazette story (with some words "censored" by Funfare):

Mimi Miyagi, the Asian-American porn actress and star of such films as Seoul Train and China Vagina, officially declared her candidacy to run for governor of Nevada earlier this month as a Republican.

Miyagi appeared at her filing in hot pink stiletto heels and a very low cut pink suit, accompanied by an entourage of "campaign cuties" and two bodyguards. Wearing a matching pillbox hat that had a certain Jackie Kennedy feel to it, she did something decidedly un-Jackie when she opened her suit coat to reveal a matching pink bra just overflowing with breasts that have been pumped up to 36DD dimensions.
